Antique Cabinet Refinish

Spring has sprung yet again, which means we have some rainy days to get small projects done inside the house. Time to tackle the Antique Cabinet Refinish.

This large cabinet was left by the previous owners in the living room. I’m guessing it was built specifically for the little nook in which it sits, because it fits perfectly. It may as well be a permanent fixture because I can’t imagine moving it. The thing is SOLID wood, really quality piece of furniture but a little too dark for my current taste. I painted it and it really brightened up the … Read the rest...

Landscaping Rocks!

Landscaping Rocks

A whole 6 months has passed since I updated last. The baby arrived a month or so after my last post, so needless to say we have been hunkering down all winter. Not getting anything accomplished on the house front. Spring is here, baby is finally sleeping (mostly) through the night, and I have the energy to get some stuff done. Our pool area has been a bit of a jungle since we moved in. We attempted to tame the beast right after we bought the place. Being pregnant last spring/summer I didn’t spend much time pulling weeds or tending … Read the rest...

DIY Nursery – Creative Space to Baby’s Place

A year ago I posted about painting my office.  Well, it has underwent another transformation since. Check out my DIY Nursery! I knew when we moved in and painted it that it would eventually be the nursery, it was just a matter of when. 🙂 It’s a large reason I chose the neutral colors of grey and orange. Well I’m 35 weeks along today, and it’s ready for baby!

First and foremost I want to give a shoutout to Mike for building these beautiful shelves. I gave him a DIY video and list of materials and he did a fantastic … Read the rest...

Recessed LED lighting & 1 Full year!

Can you believe it? One full rotation around the sun here already. One year ago today we made settlement on this place. I know I have been fairly quiet this summer, it’s been a busy one. Now that it’s finally winding down I figured I would post about the project we have drug out the last few months; new ceiling tiles and Recessed LED lighting in our basement. Mainly because summer is for doing things outdoors, and trust me, our yard keeps us more than busy enough. Inside projects take the back-burner.

Before: tiles & Track lights

Starting back in … Read the rest...

Antique Dresser Refinish – A Family Heirloom

Antique Dresser Refinish

This dresser had been sitting in my Grandmother’s basement for well over a decade now. It was used by my Grandfather for many years. I couldn’t find a specific date on it but I’m guessing it’s from the late 50s or sometime in the 60s. The plan was to refurbish this piece for my daughter’s (wow that feels weird to say) nursery. Oh yes, if you haven’t heard by now, we are expecting! The thought of using an old family piece for a new family member is very appealing to me.

The tag attached to the back … Read the rest...
